I did two versions of this painting, the other is in red, and also in this collection. This was started first, than put aside to do it in red. I eventually decided to finish both versions. I was interested in the way the yellow sweeps across the painting to one side, and the sunlight glowing through the center.

About Jeff Gettis
Welcome to my website. I am an artist from Torrington, Connecticut. The subject matter found in my paintings, pastels, and prints stem from the natural world. A starting point for me can be choosing one or more of the many photographs I take during hikes on surrounding trails. I call these photographs "Idea Sparkers" and they are used to create most of my landscape work. I am currently using animals as a main source of inspiration. I'm interested in the colors and endless textures that nature provides and how I can manipulate them into a cohesive composition and mood that work together to create an emotional response.
