This painting was inspired by a hike up Talcott Mountain, located in Simsbury, Connecticut. Some amazing views at the peak.
A lone tree sits on the edge of the cliff overlooking the distant blue mountains and sky. Impressionistic in style, this painting has a slight Asian influence. The branches snake through the composition dividing the space in an interesting way. Te bottom of the tree lets you peek trough to see more of the blue mountains opening up the space beyond.

About Jeff Gettis
Welcome to my website. I am an artist from Torrington, Connecticut. The subject matter found in my paintings, pastels, and prints stem from the natural world. A starting point for me can be choosing one or more of the many photographs I take during hikes on surrounding trails. I call these photographs "Idea Sparkers" and they are used to create most of my landscape work. I am currently using animals as a main source of inspiration. I'm interested in the colors and endless textures that nature provides and how I can manipulate them into a cohesive composition and mood that work together to create an emotional response.
