A beautiful and mysterious pastel painting. It has a dreamy and calm atmosphere. Warm and calming muted orange red tones are used throughout. I developed this work from imagination letting it take me through various stages until I arrived at the final version, Tonalist, and meditative in style.
This pastel was exhibited at The Kent Art Association Annual Presidents Show, winning The John T. Mott award for best marine art. Kent is located in Litchfield County Connecticut, bordering New York.

About Jeff Gettis
Welcome to my website. I am an artist from Torrington, Connecticut. The subject matter found in my paintings, pastels, and prints stem from the natural world. A starting point for me can be choosing one or more of the many photographs I take during hikes on surrounding trails. I call these photographs "Idea Sparkers" and they are used to create most of my landscape work. I am currently using animals as a main source of inspiration. I'm interested in the colors and endless textures that nature provides and how I can manipulate them into a cohesive composition and mood that work together to create an emotional response.
